A huge thank you to Kathy Huyton and the great guys at AFC Liverpool for choosing VSF as their charity of choice for funds raised in Ben’s memory. They are in the process of setting up a foundation in Ben’s name and are aiming to raise enough funds to provide a FREE heart screening for young people aged 16 to 35 in their local area.
Their first fundraiser was a charity football match, which was held at Simpsons Ground, Hillfoot Lane in Liverpool on Saturday 27th July 2019. In true British Summer fashion, it absolutely poured down! That didn’t dampen the spirits of the players nor the spectators – everyone turned out in memory of Ben Williams. Ben was their joint team manager, the “Gaffer”. He died suddenly in November 2018 aged just 41.
They are well on their way to raising the funds they need to provide the vital heart screening day – a bucket collection after the match raised a huge £309.80! We intend to support them at as many of their fundraising events as we can and hope you will too!
