Upton Cricket Club run the home straight for VSF
The fantastic guys at Upton Cricket Club are in the closing weeks of their fundraising for VSF – they chose us as their Charity of Choice for 2016 and have been absolutely phenomenal in their pursuit of raising their £1901 target.
On Saturday 1st October one of their mixed teams took part in the weekly “parkrun” in Birkenhead Park dressed in full cricket gear! The full squad of runners were Brian Shenton, Shaun Lynch, Phil Wood, Tom Wood (U11s), Ellen and Philip McGowan, Callum McCormick, Simon Simcox, Rich Battersby, Sam Newns (U9s), Mark Newns (Sam’s Dad and a proper runner!) plus “there’s only one Johnny Winder” . Brian and Phil will be the “Opening Batsmen” running in pads, gloves etc. From all accounts, a good day was had by all and everyone completed the course.
On last checking a whopping £2037 has been raised overall this year by everyone at Upton and there’s more to come apparently! An outstanding effort from an amazing community club – Brilliant!
