The sun shone down on us all at our annual charity golf day on Thursday 27th June at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa - a great day and evening was had by all!
What a fantastic day – we had the weather, all our old friends from our past charity golf days as well as new friends joining us for the first time!
The change of venue really did seem to suit everyone, the relaxed atmosphere definitely contributed to a great day’s golf and an enjoyable evening. Dave Burgess took everyone’s mind off the golf when they came in with his mind boggling sleight of hand tricks.
We were all entertained by the hilarious Jed Stone, it wouldn’t be the same without Jed. The BBQ was delicious and perfect for a balmy Summer’s evening, everybody seemed to relax, have a few drinks and enjoy themselves. I think there may have been a few sore heads the next morning!
Congratulations to all the winners – 3D Developments were our Men’s winners, the winning Ladies team were Eaton Belles and La Tabella were our Mixed Team winners. We would really like to see some more lady golfers next year to give our ladies some competition! We would also welcome more mixed teams.
A huge thank you goes to Paul Hughes and Shaun McGrail from I-Paye and SPi Accountancy for kindly choosing to be our main sponsors again, this is the third year running. We really do appreciate and value the support. Also, a huge thank you to Kelly and Gemma, who work at I-Paye and SPi Accountancy for all their hard work on the day – we say it every year but we couldn’t do it without you!
We are also indebted to our wonderful registration ladies – Tricia and her daughter Tori. They did a fantastic job of registering everybody and then totting up the scorecards after. We hope to see you both at next year’s event!
Our aim for the proceeds of this year’s event is to increase the number of heart screenings we deliver in a year to 10, therefore screening around 1000 young people over that 12 month period.
The grant total raised, will come in at around £8,000! Absolutely fantastic! We will be able to heart screen just under 300 young people with this amount – just think of the lives you may have helped to save! We cannot thank you all enough!
Next year’s event promises to be even better – we are hoping to spice things up by having Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock attending to support the charity! There will be lots of different sponsorship opportunities, including playing with a celebrity at next year’s event! Watch this space for further details! We will be holding next year’s event in June 2020 at Formby Hall again, we’ll announce the date very soon.
