They took on the Galway Bay Half Marathon and 10K, battling through the wet and windy conditions!
On October the 5th, 1st XI captain Tom Marsland, his father Chris and sister Harriet ran the Galway Bay Half Marathon in Ireland. Tom’s partner and long-term cricket sufferer Sophie also ran the Galway 10km race on the same day. They couldn’t have had worse weather conditions but it didn’t stop them powering on, like true superheroes. Even their supporters took a bashing in the rain but they stood strong too and kept cheering!
Upton are well into their 4th year in partnership with our charity and they have helped us make a huge difference to the lives of young people by fundraising to pay for heart screening events in their local area.
To date, they have already raised over £6000 thanks to the hard work and generosity of Upton members and their friends & families. Everyone at VSF is very proud to say that they have been responsible for the screening of almost 200 young people from the local area already.
A huge well done to Tom, Sophie, Chris, Harriet and the rest of the team – we really cannot express how grateful we are for your tireless fundraising and awareness raising. Thank you also to the many people who have generously donated to the many fundraising activities Tom, Sophie and the rest of the Upton gang have took on.
