Yet again, Southport College proved to be a superb venue for our annual heart screening in memory of Chris Haw
We held our 28th heart screening event on Saturday 4th May 2019 at Southport College in Southport, Merseyside. We really are grateful to everyone at the College for allowing us to use the fantastic Concepts Hair and Beauty Department facilities, it is such an excellent venue for our heart screenings. The event was funded by everyone who donated and supported the four restaurants who took part in our February £ on the Bill campaign – Auberge, Bistrot Verite, La Tabella and The Office Bar & Restaurant. Special thanks goes to Russell, Mark & Michaela, Rob and Chris, the owners of the restaurants, for all their continued support of our charity.
Yet again, we had a fantastic turnout on the day – 87 people were screened. An awful lot of people went away with smiles on their faces, relieved having had their heart checked and been told all was well. A few people were referred back to their GP as they required further tests. Thank you to anyone who contacted us to advise they couldn’t make their appointment – we were able to screen other people in their places.
Thank you to everyone who generously made a donation on the day – £130 was raised. Other people were also asking if they could donate on our Justgiving page as well so many thanks to them!
We must say a big thank you to our team – Dr Johan Waktare from Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, the two Gills and Gina from PDS Medical, our very own Laurence (Lol) and Hannah, our student paramedic. They all form our fantastic clinical team and they do a great job. Also doing a great job on the day are Steve, Jeni and Tracey who dish out the medical questionnaires, take everyone through the process and generally make everyone feel relaxed and at ease. A huge thank you to them all!
We should also say a huge thank you to everyone who raises funds for us as it is because of you that we can hold screening events like this – huge thanks!
