We had the Rolls Royce of venues when we held our latest screening at Eccleston Medical Centre - thank you to everyone concerned for allowing us to hold our screening day there!
On Saturday 16th November we held our 33rd heart screening day – this time at one of the best venues we have ever had! The Eccleston Medical Centre in Eccleston, St Helens couldn’t have been a more perfect place for us to deliver our life-saving heart screenings, we really must thank Dr Claire Clarke and everyone at the medical centre for everything they have done for us.
We also need to say a special thank you to Vinny, Gareth, Phil and everyone associated with Rainhill United JFC for all the fundraising they have been doing over the last couple of years. It is because of their hard work and perseverance that this screening could go ahead.
We screened 80 people on the day. An awful lot of people went away with smiles on their faces, relieved having had their heart checked and been told all was well. One person was referred back to their GP as they required further tests. Thank you to anyone who contacted us to advise they couldn’t make their appointment – we were able to screen other people in their places.
Thank you to everyone who generously made a donation on the day – £91 was raised. Other people were also asking if they could donate on our Justgiving page as well so many thanks to them!
We would also like to say thank you to our fantastic clinical team – what an outstanding service they delivered on the day! Special thanks to Dr Johan Waktare, our cardiology consultant, Pete our echo sonographer as well as Marie and Louise, our ECG technicians, Lol, who took everyone’s blood pressure and Mike, who gave everyone some basic CPR and defibrillator training – they all did an amazing job and we cannot thank them enough.
Our next heart screening is in Blacon, Chester on Saturday 7th December – email us at info@vsf.org.uk if you are aged between 16 and 35 and are interested in getting heart checked.
