Yet again, The Everton in the Community Hub proved to be a great venue for our annual heart screening in the area
On Saturday 12th October we held another of our life-saving heart screening days – this time at Everton in the Community Hub in Liverpool. We really are grateful to Michael Salla for allowing us to use the facilities. We also need to say a special thank you to Mark, Michael and Barrie who all volunteered on the day and did a fantastic job, we couldn’t have done it without their super support! The Everton in the Community Hub does fantastic work within their local community and one that makes a huge difference to the lives of the people within the area.
This was our 32nd FREE heart screening day and we have now screened 2855 young people. The event was funded by all the kind and generous people who raise funds for us. It is down to them that we were able to hold this screening.
We screened 61 people on the day. An awful lot of people went away with smiles on their faces, relieved having had their heart checked and been told all was well. Seven people were referred back to their GP as they required further tests. We will update you as soon as we have more information on their diagnoses. Thank you to anyone who contacted us to advise they couldn’t make their appointment – we were able to screen other people in their places.
Thank you to everyone who generously made a donation on the day – £53.60 was raised. Other people were also asking if they could donate on our Justgiving page as well so many thanks to them!
We would also like to say thank you to our fantastic clinical team – what an outstanding service they delivered on the day! Special thanks to Dr Sam Srivastava, our cardiology consultant, Patrick our echo sonographer as well as Sue and Abbie, our ECG technicians, Hannah, who took everyone’s blood pressure and Emily, who gave everyone some basic CPR and defibrillator training – they all did an amazing job and we cannot thank them enough.
