Wirral based Neston Cricket Club sponsored a FREE heart screening at their sports club on Saturday 30th January.
On Saturday, the VSF delivered another successful heart screening. This time we were very warmly welcomed by Neston Cricket Club on the Wirral.
What a great day we had with a great bunch of people! Neston Cricket Club is one of the premier amateur sporting clubs in the North of England for cricket, hockey, squash and tennis. The club, which is over 100 years old, offers wonderful sporting facilities and social activities for members of all ages. There is also a thriving golf society, bridge section, boules and bowls. We had a great day there and were made to feel so welcome by everyone.
Sally Bush, who organised the whole day and rounded people up to be screened did an amazing job – she literally didn’t stop all day!
Once again we would like to say a huge Thank You to all our team – we really are so lucky to have such dedicated, professional and friendly people who are committed to our charity. Janet, who is one of our senior physiologists, ensured all the clinical side ran swimmingly. Sue, a physiologist, was a new member to the team and did a fantastic job and we hope she will join us again. We had our brilliant paramedics – Trish and Lol – who, as usual, delivered an excellent service in their usual friendly and approachable way. We really couldn’t do it without them. Jay Wright, consultant cardiologist and member of the cricket club, kindly offered to spearhead the screening and donate his services on the day free of charge. This was his first time with the VSF and we really would like to thank him for his personable approach to the day, he was so dedicated to ensuring that he gave every person his very best. It was a great honour and pleasure to have him on our team and we look forward to working with him in the future. His wife, Jill, was absolutely brilliant too – we would love her to be a member of our team!
The rest of our team, Lynn, Steve, Tracey and Ron did what they always do – make everybody welcome, feel at ease and happy with the service they receive. They all put such a great amount of time and effort into making sure these days run smoothly and we really appreciate that.
We screened 72 people and thankfully no referrals were made. A lot of young people went home satisfied with their healthy hearts!
