We held our 30th heart screening day during the week for the very first time and it was a huge success for all concerned
On Wednesday 3rd July 2019 we held our first midweek heart screening, it was at the Life Rooms in Walton, Liverpool. We really are grateful to everyone at the venue for allowing us to use their facilities. We were part of their Wellbeing Wednesday and we all worked very well together!
This was our 30th FREE heart screening day and we have now screened 2700 young people. Special thanks go to Iain Till and all the staff and volunteers at Life Rooms for allowing us to use their building and for looking after us on the day. It’s a wonderful place and one that makes a huge difference to the lives of the community it’s within. The event was funded by everyone who raises funds for us.
We had a great turnout on the day – 67 people were screened. An awful lot of people went away with smiles on their faces, relieved having had their heart checked and been told all was well. 6 people were referred back to their GP as they required further tests. Thank you to anyone who contacted us to advise they couldn’t make their appointment – we were able to screen other people in their places.
Thank you to everyone who generously made a donation on the day – £56 was raised. Other people were also asking if they could donate on our Justgiving page as well so many thanks to them!
We would also like to say thank you to our fantastic clinical team – what an outstanding service they delivered on the day to 67 people! Special thanks to Dr Marco Masullo, our cardiologist consultant, Pete our echo sonographer as well as Paula and Nick, our ECG technicians – they all did a great job.
Our next heart screening is in Chester in September – email us at info@vsf.org.uk if you are aged between 16 and 35 and are interested in getting heart checked.
