Anthony James Estate Agents together with the school's PFA sponsored a very successful heart screening day on Saturday 19th September 2015.
The VSF trustees would like to thank Mark Cunningham from Anthony James Estate Agents, Scarisbrick Hall School, and their Parents and Friends Association who kindly sponsored a FREE Heart Screening on Saturday 19th September.
The Southport and Birkdale based Estate Agents and the Lancashire based school along with their PFA raised the funds required to deliver the heart screening to the school’s Year 11 and Sixth Form pupils along with students from Edge Hill University and the Southport Rugby League team. They also very kindly offered FREE places to any member of the public aged between 15 and 35 years of age.
Lawrence and Trish from North West Ambulance Service delivered a friendly and efficient service taking people’s blood pressure and giving short talks on CPR and defibrillator training. Then Tony, Kerry and Maria – physiologists from Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital – performed the necessary ECGs and Echocardiograms with their usual professionalism before giving the results to Dr Archie Rao, Consultant Cardiologist. She was kept extremely busy on the day but took it all in her stride.
Ron Hutchinson, our Head of Fundraising was there to help on the day along with Mark Cunningham and Mike Doyle to offer support and assistance in any way needed. Tag Montagu from the school’s PFA was on hand all day and was a great help. We would like to say a huge thank you to all of you as these screening days wouldn’t be able to take place without you all.
We screened 79 young people on the day and of those, 15 were referred for further investigation.
