Thank you Everton in the Community!

EITC and their volunteers provided fantastic support at our annual FREE heart screening in their community hub, allowing us to deliver our great service again.

On Saturday 20th October 2018 we held our 24th FREE heart screening, this time at Everton FC Community Hub.

Medicash, together with Everton in the Community , have funded the last 3 years’ annual heart screening and we are extremely grateful to them.  This funding has paid for over 300 young people to be heart screened, resulting in a number of people being diagnosed with previously undiagnosed heart conditions, serious blood pressure issues as well as other less serious issues.  It has also helped a fair few people who had worries about their heart health, by giving them the opportunity to get heart checked and be given peace of mind. Many thanks to Mike Salla from Everton in the Community for organising the screenings and the funding, we appreciate everything you do for our charity.

We have been holding an annual heart screening in the community of Everton for a few years now and it never ceases to amaze us the great work that Everton in the Community do for local people in the area.  We had a series of friendly, helpful and enthusiastic EITC volunteers throughout the day – they were all a great help.

The day went really well, we screened 96 young people aged between 16 and 35 .  Out of the 96 people screened there were 3 people who needed to be referred for further tests, 6 people who were advised to see their GP for other issues and 6 people who were given blood pressure or lifestyle advice.  We definitely gave a lot of people peace of mind with regard to their heart health and any concerns they had.

Huge thanks go to our clinical team who, yet again, delivered a friendly and professional service; Dr Johan Waktare cardiologist, Trish our paramedic who took everyone’s blood pressure and James, our student paramedic who delivered excellent CPR and defibrillator training to everyone.  We also had some new team members this time – Steve, Gill and Amanda from PDS Medical and Bianca from The Royal Liverpool Hospital.  We look forward to working with you all at future screenings.  Welcome to our team!
