They smashed their mammoth 1000 mile cycling challenge, exceeded their fundraising target and funded a heart screening day at their offices.
On Saturday 18th January we held our 34th heart screening day, at the offices of The Buy to Let Brokers in Southport. Not only did they provide us a with a fantastic location for the screening, they also funded it!
Over the last few weeks, the mortgage advisors and case managers took on the mammoth challenge of running/cycling over 1000 miles in a virtual tour of their biggest UK lending partners, raising awareness of our charity and their £3,000 target. Following weeks of fundraising and hours on the treadmill, the team successfully reached both goals and raced past the finish line with a day to spare.
We would like to say a special thank you to the directors Matt Hardman and Matthew Rowne, for allowing us to use their premises for the screening, to everyone at Buy to Let Brokers for choosing us as their charity of choice and for doing such a fantastic job of raising awareness and funds.
We screened 95 people on the day and have now screened over 3000 people in total. An awful lot of people went away with smiles on their faces, relieved having had their heart checked and been told all was well. Two people were referred back to their GP as they required further tests. Thank you to anyone who contacted us to advise they couldn’t make their appointment – we were able to screen other people in their places.
Thank you to everyone who generously made a donation on the day – £185 was raised. Other people were also asking if they could donate on our Justgiving page as well so many thanks to them!
We would also like to say thank you to our fantastic clinical team – what an outstanding service they delivered on the day! Special thanks to Prof. Khaled Albouaini, our cardiology consultant, Pete our echo sonographer as well as Maria and Nick, our ECG technicians, and to Mike and Emily who took everyone’s blood pressure and gave everyone some basic CPR and defibrillator training – they all did an amazing job and we cannot thank them enough.
